John Burbank emailed this photo of Olive and Hervey Hanson, who lived in the L. S. Gordon building beginning in the 1950's. John allowed us to publish it here, and sent this information:
"Olive Jane Hanson (1904-1999) was the daughter of Perley T. & Viola J (Thompson) BROWN. Hervey William HANSON (1894-1986) was the son of William G. and Asa L. (Clifford) HANSON. Both Olive and Hervey as well as their parents and many ancestors were Starksboro residents. I know they bought the store in 1956 so I suspect the picture was taken in the late 50's or early 60's."
We're so glad for pictures or stories of the history of the building - if you have any, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Repairs begin this week! This photo's of our lumber from the P&P mill in Starksboro. We also picked up an 18'-long 8" x 8" beam to replace the foundation sill. Lou led the crew today (Sean McDonald, Jim, and Ryan) and we were busy with the roof over the building addition, removing the old foundation sill, and getting ready to raise the road-side wall that bows in the middle.
The YouthBuild crew from Recycle North in Burlington spent today working with Lou on repairs to the southwestern corner, the floor and the eastern exterior wall. Recycle North staff Ethan Maurer, Andrew Jope, and Lindsay Foreman worked with YouthBuild students Adam Fyfe, Pat Fitzgerald, and Tony Lewis at the site, accomplishing an amazing amount of progress. Hoping they make it back, maybe in July!
